We are...

The Oxford City Singers. A relatively new Oxford choir, founded in 2009, offering a light-hearted antidote to the more serious side of singing.

Why join you...

If you don't want to be restricted to singing only one type of music (eg. gospel, folk, large classical works or world music), but would like to sing a whole variety of songs, and get together with like-minded people every week ,then we could be for you.

When do we...

Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7pm till about 8.30pm, with a drink in the pub afterwards. Visit Where and When for details.

Do I need to be...

You don't have to be able to sing to any particular level and you don't need to be able to read music. The choir has a whole mixture of members: those who have been in choirs previously, those who have never sung in a formal group, some who do not read music...all different abilities.

What do you...

We do arrangements of pop songs, themes from musicals, the odd folk-song or well-known classical piece - anything members fancy really! If there's something anyone would like try in particular, I'll see if I can get hold of the music! Check out the Music tab to see what we're up to at the mo!

What does it...

The weekly charge is £2. There is no yearly or termly charge - pay as you go!

Where do you...
The venue for rehearsals is St. Michael at the Northgate Church on Cornmarket Street. Please see Where and When page for full details.

And at the end of it all...

Over the past 3 years we have hosted three Summer Concerts and three Christmas Concerts. We have also sung all over Oxford to raise money for various charities.  You can see clips and photos by clicking the links in the menu. Our next event is our annual Summer Concert on Saturday 8th July.
